The Atiku Campaign Organisation has warned Nigerians to beware of Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, and not succumb to his overlordship in Lagos.
At a Tuesday news conference in Asaba, PDP Presidential Campaign Council spokesman Charles Aniagwu warned that Nigerians would be enslaved if Tinubu became president.
He warned Nigerians not to make the same error Lagosians did by letting Tinubu run the entire state.
“As a campaign council, we are urging Nigerians not to make the mistake of submitting themselves to internal slavery by the APC, whose Presidential candidate has since captured Lagos and what he is looking for is to expand his territorial control beyond Lagos to control the entire country in form of slavery,” he said.
For those who don’t know, this person runs several significant Lagos projects and programmes.
“When you come to Lagos and ask about BRT, this man’s family handles it. His son runs the Lagos signage industry, and his company collects the most taxes in the country.
“Needn’t I mention other sources of revenue that Lagos should have profited from you also know how he handpicks those who will run Lagos to the degree that Ambode, a man that was performing well was pulled out because he disagreed with them on how to divide the funds of the people of Lagos.”
He remarked such a person aspiring to lead our nation will harm us all.
“If we don’t want to submit ourselves to slavery, Nigerians must stop Tinubu from crossing Lagos into the other 35 states and the FCT because that will amount to internal slavery for all of us where he alone will select the next President and who gets what and not democratic administration.
“As part of that unbridled ambition to expand his grasp and seize the states, they have conjured up stories because they have seen that Nigerians are persuaded that Atiku Abubakar is a man who will recover this country and put it on the path of progress and development.
“They woke a blackmailer and called him a whistleblower. As journalists, you know what a whistleblower and blackmailers are.
Michael Achimugu worked for one of the daughter’s support groups, not Atiku Abubakar.
“If all somebody does is videotape his employer and his friend and you call that whistleblowing, all of you know that is not whistleblowing but blackmail and anybody who is a blackmailer cannot be regarded seriously and we are not upset because it was not done to serve our country.
Delta Commissioner for Information Aniagwu said the campaign council was focused on solving the nation’s problems, not trivial matters.
“As a campaign council, we know that our youths are losing their employment, more than 133 million Nigerians are suffering from multi-dimensional poverty, our economy is struggling, and our unity is severely tested.
“Our youngsters need the best education to limit the ‘Jappa’ syndrome and move the country from a consuming atmosphere to a more productive one.
“Any attempt to raise concerns that don’t add up so that they can have their way to enslave the rest of us, we are asking Nigerians to be careful of him and ask Lagosians what they are going through in his hands.
“Our forebears fought the slave masters and colonial rulers and chased them away to where they came from therefore we cannot afford to enthrone internal slave lords who will dictate how the country is ruled.
“Our goal is to revive our economy, unite Nigerians against divisiveness, repair infrastructure, and confront insecurity, which has hampered production and weakened our nation.
“We will modify the constitution to allow state police and other subjects. “The APC has never given the country hope, let alone renewed it, so we cannot allow them to enslave the rest of the country,” he stated.
